ORDINAIRE WINE SHOP & WINE BAR
We sell natural wine. We also throw parties, go on field trips, cook together, hang out with winemakers, host bistros and think a lot about how wine, food and service can change the world.
THE NEWSLETTER
This substack is for telling you about what we are doing and thinking: events, field trips, pop-ups, recipes, wine club stuff, funny pictures, bottles we are drinking, other businesses we love, etc. We hope you follow us here. More than that, we hope these missives compel you to come to the shop and share a bottle with us!

SATURDAY TASTINGS
This summer we are hosting winemaker tastings every Saturday from 2pm to 5pm. This weekend, on July 6th, Graham Shelton from Slow Dance will be pouring at the bar. He farms a few vineyards and makes classically-styled California wines, but without the typical chemical makeup! His Rosé, Pinot and Cab are perfect ways to extend the holiday into the weekend. The cost is $10. Hope to see you there!
ORD BOTTLES
The staff has a long-running WhatsApp group called “ORD BOTTLES” in which we share notes on wines that we pop in the shop or encounter in the wild. They are usually short and sweet: a way for everyone to get on the same page because it’s impossible for all of us to drink all of the wines, though we do try our very best. We will occasionally re-post those messages here. Here’s one from yesterday…
2022 Domaine Vinci “Roc” $23 (Grenache blend from Roussillon, FRANCE) This wine is very good. Candied cherry aromatics, maybe some cocoa and sage. Tiny bit of structure. Soft fruit, not too much acid. That is all. ;) - Cormac

FIELD TRIPS
We close every first Tuesday to hang out as a staff. We usually visit a winemaker, but sometimes we’ll go sailing or maybe camping. And then other times we just get hammered at a dive bar. It is lovingly known as the “field trip.” Most recently we visited Darek Trowbridge of Old World Winery. In future newsletters, we’ll share more details, but for this introductory post, here’s a couple photos.

WINE CLUB
We spend a lot of time sourcing delicious wines for the monthly wine club and then writing about those wines. The price starts at $50 per month. You get a free tasting for you and a buddy on pick-up day, plus 10% off all retail purchases, all the time. It’s fun.
POP-UPS & BISTROS
We occasionally host pop-ups. At the moment, we host Good Luck Bakery every Saturday, 12-3pm. We also occasionally host “bistros.” These are typically 3-course prix-fixe menus. Reservations are required. Follow the newsletter to keep up with future bistros!
